We hope that this University Parent Guide is a valuable resource for you that can provide resources and information to help you and your student during your partnership with WOU!

WOU has a unique role in the state of Oregon university system – we offer top-quality instruction from incredible faculty, committed staff devoted to helping students succeed and a small-town environment where hundreds of student activities are provided each year!

It is an exciting time as we continue to grow our institution’s capabilities!  The addition of a new live-learn residence hall for Fall 2010 and the new Health-Wellness recreation center scheduled to open January 2011!

Here are some facts and figures about Western Oregon University!

  • The average class size is 26 with a Student/faculty ratio of 18:1
  • We have no classes larger than 100 students
  • 51% of our students are first generation!
  • We awarded $2.4 million in scholarships for 2007-2008
  • Average age of students:  22.4
  • 90% of our students come from Oregon
  • Roughly 62% female and 38% male
  • Campus is 134 acres with over 1,200 trees!
  • Fall 2009 enrollment was 5,600
