Washington University in St. Louis Parent Guide

Welcome From the Chancellor

Most of you have not had the opportunity to visit us since late summer. Now that we are nearly halfway through the fall semester, there is a hum of activity throughout the campus. Our student organizations are in full swing, planning interesting events and programs.

Students are immersed in their academic pursuits, spending time in the residence hall study rooms, studios, or in our many campus libraries, reading or writing, and working together on projects. Our new students have made many new friends and our returning students have reconnected with their classmates.

Parent & Family Weekend is a time for us to share our community with you, our families. As a parent myself, I know that all of you are here primarily to spend time with your students. But, I hope you have the opportunity to experience the Washington University community during your short visit. Attend a course taught by one of our internationally recognized faculty members. Visit Edison Theater to see the Performing Arts Department present Hairspray. Enjoy a cup of coffee at Whispers Café in the Olin Library or in the Tisch Commons of the Danforth University Center.

There is always much to do and see on our campus, and I am delighted that you are able to join us. Please accept my best wishes for a rewarding visit.

Sincerely yours,

Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton
