Phi Kappa Phi 2017 Award Programs Now Accepting Applications

The nation’s oldest and most selective multidisciplinary honor society, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, is now accepting applications for its 2017 award programs. According to a recent press release, these awards include fellowships, study abroad grants, literacy grants and love of learning awards.

If your student hopes to go to grad school, plans to start a literacy initiative or to study abroad, encourage them to apply to one of the following programs.

Study Abroad Grants:

What: 50 grants of $1,000 each

Who: Members and non-members studying abroad

Deadline: February 15

Literacy Grants:

What: Grants of up to $2,500

Who: Phi Kappa Phi chapters and individual members seeking funds for literacy initiatives

Deadline: April 1

Love of Learning Awards:

What: One hundred awards, at $500 each

Who: Members pursuing professional development opportunities and post-baccalaureate studies

Deadline: April 1


What: Six Fellowships of $15,000 each and 51 Fellowships of $5,000 each

Who: Members entering their first year of graduate or professional study

Deadline: Varies by chapter

Phi Kappa Phi recognized over 280 people last year and currently awards $1.4 million each biennium. Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi inducts approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni annually. Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and 7.5 percent of juniors. Visit for more information.
