2017 SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards Accepting Entries

By Elana Goodwin, The Ohio State University

Entries are now being accepted for the 9th annual College Sports Media Awards (CSMAs) by The Sports Video Group (SVG) and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), according to a recent press release. The CSMAs recognize the best in college sports video production, commending those who have expanded the limits, pushed boundaries, and set a higher standard for the quality of live, pre-, and post-produced college sports video content.

Winners and finalists will be recognized and honored at the SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards Ceremony, to be held on June 1 at the 2017 SVG College Sports Summit, which will take place May 31-June 2 at the Omni Hotel at the CNN Center in Atlanta.

This year, winners will be awarded in four divisions across five categories. The divisions are National Networks; Regional/Local Networks, Syndicators, and Production Companies; Collegiate Athletics; and Collegiate Student. The categories are Live Game Production; Live Non-Game Production; Program Series; Special Feature; and Promotion Video: Hype, Open, Tease, PSA, or Marketing Campaign.

If your student has already entered the SVG/NACDA College Sports Media Awards, there have been some changes made to the rules and application procedures. Most importantly, the deadline has been moved up and is now April 14.

Other changes made include the acceptance of Live Social-Media Material and the eligibility of In-Stadium Hype Video, as well as the Conference Digital Networks move to the Collegiate Athletics Division and the Professional Production Companies move to the Regional/Local Networks, Syndicators, and Production Companies division.

Anyone entering a submission to The Sports Video Group and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics’ College Sports Media Awards is eligible to attend the SVG College Sports Summit in Atlanta from May 31-June 2, 2017 for free.

The deadline for submissions to the College Sports Media Awards is April 14, 2017. Entries must have originally aired, been available online for download or streaming, or been publicly exhibited between March 1, 2016, and April 5, 2017. Entry fees vary according to division. Finalists will be announced on May 2 after a Blue Ribbon Panel of highly qualified professionals casts their ballots. Winners will be chosen based on both Round 1 and Round 2 voting.
