Tell Your Student to Fill Up Their Gas Tank With GasBuddy
By Danielle Wirsansky, Uloop
Most parents are aware of the high and rising costs of college. And according to Sallie Mae’s most recent study called “How America Pays for College,” as many as half of all students are living at home, which is a 3 percent increase from the previous year.
This is where GasBuddy comes in. GasBuddy describes themselves as “… the leader in crowdsourced information to help drivers find the best gas prices, closest stations, friendliest service, cleanest restrooms, tastiest coffee and much more. GasBuddy is the leading source for the most accurate, real-time fuel prices at more than 140,000 gas stations in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.”
And now, according to this press release, GasBuddy has released a new payment service specifically for students. Walt Doyle, CEO of GasBuddy, explains the purpose of the new program.
“The rising cost of education puts a strain on student finances and the Pay with GasBuddy card can help ease that by helping students save on this everyday expense. Commuter students, students headed to jobs or internships, or even those driving home on the weekends to visit their families can benefit from Pay with GasBuddy savings.”
Students can save gas all the way around with GasBuddy. Using the app, they can find the locations with the cheapest priced gas. Then, using Pay with GasBuddy, students will get 15 cents off per gallon on their first purchase and then five cents off per gallon on their regular purchases.
GasBuddy estimates that a student can save up to an average of $340 a year using Pay with GasBuddy. In plainer terms, these savings equal 1,259 packs of ramen noodles, 30 large cheese pizzas, and 17 cases of Bud Light, which is a lot of food and drink for the average student. Pay with GasBuddy makes everyday life easier and cheaper for students!
